Three Guides And An Oracle
Three Guides And An Oracle
When reading for myself, it’s often hard to be objective. Sometimes, I don’t want to see cards that suggest that I have to do work or that something needs me to turn back and start over. Sometimes, some solid advice is required, but my mind is too close to the matter, and I need another point of view on the spot. That’s where the three Sigil cards–The Mystic, Augur, and Sage guide cards come in.
A Mystic, an Augur, and a Sage can describe a wise person interchangeably. Still, in my new deck, I assigned each card with a specific power and perspective so they could help by giving their unique approach and perspective when solving a mystery.
My Method
Before choosing my oracle cards from a deck for a reading, I place the three Sigil cards—the Mystic, the Augur, and the Sage cards—face down and make sure I mix them well thoroughly. I then choose one, and that becomes my guide. Please place it in the top space. Then, I pull cards from the deck as my reading and use the wisdom, techniques, or perspectives of the Sigil card on top.
Here is a breakdown for each Sigil guide card I use. At the bottom, there is a link to download your cards. Feel free to print them on card stock for personal use, cut them out, and use them when you need a teacher and guide.
The Mystic
The Mystic engages in magick and honors the power of ritual to influence their surroundings. When The Mystic appears, you are encouraged to alter your actions and strengthen your capacity to influence the outcome of a situation.
You are encouraged to use spells, chants, and rituals to alter your experiences and surroundings. For example, you might choose some crystals and set them in a formation, light a candle, and visualize or say out loud what you intend to do. You are drawing in help from external energies and allies.
After careful consideration, you create your ritual, spell, or planned steps and couple that with the oracle card(s) you have chosen.
The Augur
The Augur gathers insight by looking for signs and patterns in nature and the cosmos. They are in tune with the life force of everything and use intuition to understand auspicious messages. When the Augur appears, the skill you should apply is intuition and use observations as clues to understand the challenges in your life better.
With the Augur as your guide, look for signs, clues, and natural or supernatural events to understand a situation or to make predictions. You may take a walk in nature, look around, and see what strikes you as a clue that will augment your chosen Oracle card.
You might notice patterns in nature, animals that appear, clouds in the sky, natural events such as lightning strikes, and other signs that make predictions. Create your action steps with the Oracle card (s) you chose. Believe in synchronicity!
The Sage
The Sage possesses the stories and secrets of the ages. They study ancient texts and preserve the oral histories passed down through generations. You can explore books and legends as metaphors for your dilemma.
The Sage will encourage you to consult books and old knowledge to interpret circumstances and situations. An example might be to select a book off the shelf that relates to your card to find more and educate yourself about the subject matter. What comes up for you? The Sage is a scribe and keeper of records. Journaling is always a Sage’s recommendation.
Set aside time for more profound readings and more time to do the work needed to manifest.
Yes, this often deepens and extends the reading beyond the typical boundaries of a one or even a three-card pull by suggesting some research or work. I believe that Oracle decks are for self-help, and therefore, there needs to be action that follows a reading. A reading isn’t to verify my (flawed?) opinion or tell me I’m right. That is just feeding the ego. Working on the shadowy sides of ourselves lifts the obstructions and lets the light in.
The soon-to-be-released Mystic, Augur, and Sage Oracle decks include these three sigil cards. They’re the perfect deck for exploring perspectives from around the globe, going deeper into the work, and engaging in a sacred journey of spiritual growth.
